For 100 years, the doors of Tiferes Israel Synagogue have welcomed generations of our community—through times of joy and sorrow, celebration and remembrance, growth and change. Now, we invite you to walk through those doors once more for a momentous reunion that honors our past while celebrating the enduring bonds that connect us all.
Kum a Heim—Come Home—isn’t just an invitation. It’s a call to reconnect with the place where your family’s story became woven into something larger than ourselves. It’s a chance to stand where your grandparents stood, to share meals in rooms filled with laughter and memory, and to ensure that the next century begins with all of us together.
From July 31 to August 2, 2026, Moncton will become a gathering place for families scattered across continents, for childhood friends who haven’t seen each other in decades, and for generations who will meet for the first time. Whether you attended services here every week or your connection lives in the stories your parents told, this weekend belongs to you.
We’ll gather around Shabbat tables just as our ancestors did a century ago. We’ll walk through the cemetery where those who built this community now rest, honoring their vision that has sustained us through 100 years. We’ll plant a tree for the next century, bury a time capsule for future generations to discover, and dedicate a cornerstone that bears witness to our commitment to preserve what they created.
This isn’t a museum exhibit or a history lecture. This is three days of living, breathing community—of sharing stories over wine and cheese, of children playing where their great-grandparents once played, of voices joining together in prayers that have echoed through these walls for a century.
You’ll see photos and videos you’ve never seen before. You’ll hear recordings of voices you thought you’d never hear again. You’ll reconnect with people who knew you when you were young, and you’ll meet relatives you didn’t know existed. Most importantly, you’ll be part of ensuring that this sacred space—this home—continues to welcome generations yet to come.
They crossed oceans to build this community. They worked tirelessly to establish this synagogue as a beacon of Jewish life in the Maritimes. They weathered challenges we can barely imagine, sustained by faith and the knowledge that they were creating something that would outlast them.
Now, 100 years later, their legacy calls us home. Not just to remember, but to celebrate. Not just to look back, but to look forward together. Not just to honor what was, but to commit to what will be.
The doors are open. The tables are set. Your place is waiting.
Mark your calendars for July 31 – August 2, 2026. Because some weekends only happen once in a lifetime—and some only happen once in a century.
